Today's Tip: How to take a close up

1. Like any other photo you take, simplify.  2. Fill the photo with your subject.  3. Sharp focus is a must.  Al lot of new digital cameras have a close up feature and/or an excellent automatic focus. If in doubt, always go with the automatic focus when picking a focal point on your subject. 4. Try shooting your subject from different angles. If you are looking for a deep saturation of the colors, use front lighting.  If you would like t bring out the texture of your subject, use side lighting. 5. Due to the narrow depth of field, the background will usually be thrown completely out of focus, which allows the natural background to be a nice backdrop,. Just make sure you don't have anything too distracting in the back that is recognizable (branches, cigarette buts, a dog, etc). The close up feature does this automatically without setting the f-stop--it can instantly turn your snapshot into a professional looking shot!

Today's Tip: How to pose in a photograph

Today's Tip: How to pose in a photograph. 1. For the ladies: put more weight on your back hip; while pivoting the font leg toward photographer (this will give you that nice curvy outline) 2. Smile: push your tongue to the back of your teeth (this will make your smile look genuine). 3. Where to place the hands: make them look natural in front of the body, hand(s) on hip(s)-never behind the body to avoid phantom arms. For great example of how to pose check out Paris Hilton (although I don't care for her she has mastered the art of posing and posing often!)4. Experiment with your feet. If wearing heels try slightly crossing the ankles. However, be careful that this doesn't look forced. 5. To avoid having too much flesh in the chin area: inhale through the chest, relax the shoulders back, chin up, neck long.

Michael Jackson "King of Pop" Dies

I remember driving down the road in my 75' Cherry red Trans Am blasting Michael Jackson's "Thriller". I couldn't help but turn up the radio (or in those days 8 track) when I heard "The King of Pop" come on. Michael Jackson would soon become a household name around the world holding the most #1 tracks in history (15 singles!) Despite his some-what controversial lifestyle; from crouch-grabbing dance moves to his most recent legal allegations, Michael will still be a legend.

Now, the media has seemed to have forgotten about the death or Farrah Fawcett to cancer or the great Ed Mcmahon. Instead there are constant speculations swirling about how MJ died. What is an over dose? Was it intentional? For today, I'm just going to remember all the legends that have passed this week and wish that their dream lives on.
